1 Year & 1 Term down

1 more term to go and i will be officially on the halfway mark in B.A Degree studying life. As said before, the life here is really tougher than i thought. The motivation level i am in right now is really low as compared to the time i entered Singapore Poly. The moment i step foot into NUS was full of excitement and want to learn more, but the moment i have seen the facts and truth of NUS i was really disappointed in the system that i have put up so must high hope as compared to Polytechnic system.

The amount of complication i seen in just 1 year and the amount of flaws, left me speechless and the social media or people that had been through the system encourages for overseas education are better ?! I can see the reason why already. I can safely say it is not that the education here are totally bad "BAD" but the system here have too much complication in modules towards module.

To me, architecture is a multi-discipline profession that require you to in cooperate and learn the multi-discipline into a building or unnecessarily a building but maybe some other designs like furniture or appliances. But they have split the module up so into so many assignments that it is quite hard to manage. As compared to SP, multiple modules are connected and is a rally of submission of each individual modules. Module 1 submission week 3, module 2 week 5, module 3 week 6 and ultimately it is all bringing and learning from your main design module which is how you learn and improve on your design which is what i been taught in SP.

The system here right now i wont say is a motivation killer and my motivation right now to carry on is doing for the sake of doing and not doing my very best to see how much i can push myself. As the system here, doesn't look at the effort EACH INDIVIDUAL have put in but the amount of work an the amount of money spent towards the project. I could spent like $1.50 on a model and make some really great concept and design as compared to someone who spent like $50 bucks on acrylic model and come up will some really simple model and get a better grades ?! I really dont understand the system here and i understand Design is really very subjective course but to my opinion, money is not the matter and the main reason why we get higher grades than other students. We should been graded different base on effort and improvements through the semesters and not just slamming last minute design and come out with all the fancy materials and design.

Correct me if the above things i mention i said are wrong, but these are some of the factors i been struggling so much in NUS. The extra efforts and "spoiling of market" should not be taken into consideration of grading. Extra efforts are to be graded based on a specific brief and the extra effort should be evaluated based on the critique panels sort of a bonus of for example 10% ?

I could be wrong in alot of things and i might be just flaming and ratting on the nonsense i been through but these are my 5cents worth of words i would like to share.

PS :  This post is not meant to be bragging how good or how bad NUS or SP is but im just disappointed with the system that they have put up and brag about in the papers that they are the Top University in Asia and the Top 10 architecture school in the world.
