Climbing Plans
This post is not exactly a post for me to plan my schedule and allow u guys to like schedule with me to climb etc... Im planning to start back to serious climbing for projecting graded routes and having more fun with hard climbs and maybe one day going back to competition and try out some nice routes from great climbers from over the world coming to Singapore competition to set routes.
Yes i feels really psyched everytime to watch a competition out there watch every single person out there whether a new or veteran or experiences climber or people over the globe coming to a SG comp to compete cause of the atmosphere a competition will give to you. If you ask i miss joining competition maybe a little i will say, as i dont really like competition cause it makes u feel like u didnt perform enough everytime if ur ranking is low or whatsoever as im the type of person who treat climbing as a recreational sports but at the same time i wanna be good at it and be able to perform for hard routes to be satisfied with my performances.
Saying so i dont wanna compete with other people out there to tell me whether im good or bad i just wanna compete with me myself to tell myself and tell myself did i improve or what.
After 1 year + of not climbing as much due to National Service, i do really miss doing all those hate moves or routes in the past being i enter NS. I have not be able to do lots of things that i could do doing those days saying so... Yes ! I miss climbing hard routes.
In climbing it doesnt matter what country, races or religion ur from. When comes to climbing, we speak the same language, believes & passion. Hell yea.. i miss the people/community that climbs, we just walk into the gym dont know anyone there, make new friends ask for routes climb different styles of climbing even though we speak different language we share 1 damn thing that is common between us, that is call "Rock Climbing".
So far i have been talking around for a come back to climbing to be stronger or getting back to the strength that i used to have before i enlist into NS, thinking of this every single day, like come on !
I have gain 1 or 2kg since i have enlisted, probably due to all those running and stuff my leg muscle seems to be increasing or something hence heavier ?! LOL i dont know... im just saying... Ok... Lets say maybe some how im right with this stupid theory of my.
I gotta start working on my core, specifically, core tension & control. I notice i cant control lots of big swing move or whatsoever when comes to bouldering, most of the time i always fly off the wall due to the swing move.
Bouldering is basically where i foundation in or should i say born with when comes to climbing, that is why i planned to choose bouldering for my start from scratch plan. Ultimately im planning more for highwalling as im transiting over to highwalling more then bouldering. Hence bouldering becomes a strength training/session for me in the future.
NUS Climbing Team ?! I will look forward to it, but im not sure NUS Architecture will bound to force me sacrifice climbing ?! I really hope at least once a week i will still have the time to climb with the team there at least to make more friends of cause and able to cool some steam off sometimes when im in stress or stuck with inspiration for designs ! Haha... So NUS Climbing Team if u manage to stumble across my blog, do keep a look out for me or neglect me for not being there often for training etc.
Oh yea... i notices suddenly after so many inspirational climbers coming to SG and i managed to took a photo with them, i would like to compile an album of them together probably on Facebook & keep it like a great honor see them in person. Sort of showing off at the same time i just wanna keep it like im so lucky to see this people in person side by side.... Hehe...
To summary climbing to end of this post, its Mind Over Body, Technique, Physical, Humble & Strength, let me explained point by point.
Mind Over Body - Fear is just in the mind, can do or cannot do is what your mind tells you. Keep mind positive and keep trying, failure is very normal for bouldering. Once anger kicks in due to frustration of unable to finish routes you will understand but never ever stop trying or exploring.
Technique - Drop knee, Sit in, Dyno, Tension, Lock off, Dynamic, Pogo, Breathing -- Simple technique are the basic fundamental of climbing that could only bring you so far, advance technique will be breathing, Keep practicing this you will be great in climbing.
Physical - Fit that is all i got to say, some say fat people cant climb i will say bullshit, do what you love or like no one give a shit unless your being an asshole
Humble - Learn from people mistake is the best way to improve climbing, telling them how you manage to finish climb/route will be even perfect. Yeah normally this is what we do inside the rock gym people just give you some advice, try and see whether it works for you, no harm trying as climbing got lots of beta or ways to finish a route.
Strength - Technique and Humble, looking at many climbs and learning from mistake and ways to climb could only bring you so far, ultimately you still need some brute strength to bring you to greater heights.
That is why we love climbing. The humbleness & community we speak the same damn language & sharing only one thing that is common. Oh... I forget the last point, PURE FUN & THRILL !
